It was the sign read around the world.

A deli owner in New Jersey became the target of a public backlash when he placed a sign in the window of his restaurant that said, "Celebrate Your White Heritage in March White History Month."

The sign quickly went viral online and the deli owner, Jimbo Boggess, says business declined so rapidly that he was forced to shut his business for good, according to NJ.com.

Now Boggess is being hounded by creditors and he has established a GoFundMe account to help him pay the bills. In an image posted on the fundraising page, Boggess is posing in front of the window of his closed restaurant, with a new sign.

It reads: “Forced Out of Business.”

Boggess states on the fundraising page that while he received “tons of supporting letters” he has been forced to lose his American dream. He claims that he didn’t deserve the backlash because he was proud of being white and wanted to celebrate his heritage like everyone else does.

In four days, a little over $200 has been raised in support of Boggess.
