A golden retriever named Lily has made history.

After the dog came down with an illness, her owner took her to the vet for an examination. As it turns out, the dog was suffering from a tumor on her spleen and needed an immediate blood transfusion in order to survive.

"Once they stabilized her they told us it was Hermangiosarcoma, and more than half of golden retrievers die from it," the owner said on YouTube. There was only a 10-percent chance of the tumor being benign and the vet had never had a dog survive with it, the owner says in the YouTube video.

Still, the family drained their savings account to have the six-pound tumor removed, the owner said. The vet warned them the dog still wouldn't have much time.

One a week later, the owner received some good news and was thrilled to share it with Lily.
