A bride made an emotional vow to her new stepson and groom’s ex-girlfriend, promising to always “be one family.”

In a Facebook post, 24-year-old Katie Musser explained how her relationship with her now-husband's ex-girlfriend wasn't always easy. Musser met her husband, Jeremy Wade, in April 2013.

Weeks after they met, she learned Wade had a 3-week-old son named Landon. Musser explained that she was “shocked,” but decided to continue her relationship with Wade.

She also admitted that in the beginning, her relationship with Landon’s mother, Casey Bender, was “rough.”

Musser said one day, she decided to fix her relationship with Bender. Eventually, the women bonded and even had “mommy dates.” Musser wrote, “After that, things got easier, it got closer to our wedding, and Casey and I got even closer. Casey was there when I needed someone to talk to, cry to, or just be a friend. She is someone who saved me without even realizing it.”

Musser said, “I know I can speak for us all, parenting is hard yet amazing, but co-parenting? It’s a blessing.”

The women’s strong friendship even inspired their husbands to work out their differences, too.
