An 8-year-old Virginia girl with leukemia who raised $7,400 for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital is now cancer-free, her parents said.

Elle Large, of Abingdon, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January 2017, WCYB reported. As a way to give back and to raise awareness about leukemia, Elle opened a lemonade stand in August after receiving treatment at the St. Jude facility in Memphis, Tennessee, the last two-and-a-half years, the television station reported.

The money raised was donated to the St. Jude Walk-A-Thon, Shauna Large told WCYB.

Elle's family announced Monday the girl is cancer-free and she will be returning home to Abingdon with her family this weekend, the television station reported.
