A 9-year-old is recovering after he was hit by a car that was barreling down a city sidewalk.
The driver was running from a Brooklyn business after the store owner said he tried to pass a counterfeit bill.
David Stares saw the whole thing unfold Thursday afternoon and told WABC-TV that he is still furious over what happened.
Dashcam video captured the scene as the car hurtled down the sidewalk, narrowly missing women, children and baby strollers.
The 9-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck by the black Toyota Camry, but he only suffered a minor injury to his right foot.
Store surveillance video shows the car got stuck in rush hour traffic, so the driver jumped the curb and careened backwards down the sidewalk.
"It's just a miracle that only one person got hurt," Josef Langsam told WABC-TV. Police said one person is in custody, but they are still searching for a second person.
