After a national backlash, the Associated Press reports that a Utah judge has reversed his decision and rescinded his order that would have forced a same-sex couple to give up their foster child.

Beckie Peirce and her wife, April Hoagland, were told by Utah 7th District Court Juvenile Judge Scott Johansen that the child must be removed from their care.

In his first decision, Johansen cited research that shows children do better when raised by heterosexual families. However, the American Psychological Association has said there's no scientific basis that sexual orientation has any link to being an unfit parent.
