A woman who killed a bull giraffe in Africa, then lay down next to him smiling, was called out by comedic actor Ricky Gervais on his Twitter page this week.

Rebecca Francis, is a hunter who won a competition called Extreme Hunting in 2010. She also hosted the show Eye of the Hunter, according to Buzzfeed .

Francis has three kids, five stepchildren and co-owns the hunting website Altitude Outdoors.

Francis responded to Gervais’ criticism on Tuesday, claiming she is a conservationist and only killed the giraffe as a favor to the local people, who harvested the giraffe for meat and jewelry.
