The 19-year-old sophomore was shot and killed by a new police academy graduate, who was working under the supervision of a training officer, according to the Standard-Times.

Police were responding to a call about a burglary in progress at a local car dealership. The security firm that monitors the car dealership called 911 after spotting a suspicious person on the premises.

The suspect allegedly used a vehicle to drive through a glass door into the dealership’s showroom.

Police say a struggle ensued with the suspect and shots were fired. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. He was unarmed.

The Associated Press reports that the officer who shot and killed Taylor had never fired his weapon before.

On a Twitter account that reportedly belonged to Taylor,  the teen wrote that he didn’t want to die too young. That tweet was posted approximately a week before his death.

Taylor also posted multiple times about the topic of police harassment on his Twitter account.
