One of the man's checked bags triggered a security alarm Saturday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement.

Officers opened the bag and found a DVD player inside. When officers further inspected the DVD player, they found that a 9 mm handgun wrapped in aluminum foil was inside, the TSA said.

Port Authority police arrested the man, who is from Elmhurst, New York, and was on his way to Mexico. He faces weapons violations charges.
