Trump listened in on phone calls at Mar-a-Lago, report says

Donald Trump might have listened in on phone calls at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, which, if true, would be a violation of state law, according to a new report from BuzzFeed.

The report cites six former Mar-a-Lago employees who said Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has a switchboard next to his bed at the estate.

BuzzFeed reported that some of the former employees said Trump listened in on staff members’ phone calls.

Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks told BuzzFeed that the allegations are "totally and completely untrue."

Four of the former workers, who remained anonymous because of nondisclosure agreements, said the alleged eavesdropping incidents occurred during the mid-2000s.

Two other employees, Trump's former director of security, John Velez, and Trump's former butler, Anthony Senecal, acknowledged that Trump had a switchboard next to his bed, but said he used it for easier access to call guests' rooms and other areas of the massive 126-room property.

"Trying to remember extensions to every suite is impossible," Velez told BuzzFeed.
