Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday said he plans to continue in his job despite comments President Donald Trump made in an interview with The New York Times.

Trump said that if he had known that Sessions was going to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, he would have picked someone else to lead the Justice Department.

"We love this job. We love this department, and I plan to continue to do so as long as that is appropriate," Session told reporters Thursday in a response to question about Trump’s comments.

Here is what other media outlets are saying about Trump’s comments.

The latest Trump interview once again reveals total disregard for the rule of law

"At his confirmation hearings, Christopher Wray promised over and over again that he would run the FBI independently from the White House — just the way it's always been run. But in a breathtaking new interview with the New York Times, Donald Trump makes it clear — over and over again — that he does not believe the FBI or any other agency should in any way be independent from his personal whims and interests."

No, President Trump, Sessions’s recusal is not ‘very unfair’ to you. This is Ethics 101.

"It is no surprise, but it is still a shock, to see how little President Trump understands about the independence of the Justice Department and the importance of the rule of law. Trump's jaw-dropping interview with the New York Times featured an unprecedented and unvarnished invitation to Attorney General Jeff Sessions to quit. Don't let the door hit you on your way out, Jeff, Trump might as well have said."

The Law Is Irrelevant to Donald Trump

Slate"On Wednesday, in an interview with the New York Times, President Trump attacked everyone involved in the Russia investigation: Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, former FBI Director James Comey, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It's one of those tirades that tell you more about the man flinging the insults than about the people he's insulting."

Why Trump knifed Sessions

“For weeks, President Trump has been privately expressing frustration with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and has even told aides he regretted appointing him. The declaration of no-confidence led to instant speculation in Republican circles that Sessions would resign.”

Trump Delivers A Warning To Mueller

“President Donald Trump told The New York Times Wednesday that it would be improper for special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate his family’s finances in a manner not related to the probe into Russian election interference. Mueller, a registered Republican, has hired at least seven Democratic donors to join his investigative team, including one attorney who donated roughly $34,000 to federal Democratic candidates.”
