Trio arrested after stealing peroxide instead of gasoline for truck, Kentucky police say

Three people in southern Kentucky were arrested on charges of second-degree burglary after the gasoline they believed they were stealing was actually peroxide.

According to a post on its official Facebook page, Laurel County deputies arrested Dustin Napier, 29, of Keavy; Latasha Renea Bryant, 28. of Girdler; and Timothy J. Storms, 33, of Corbin.

The three were arrested after entering a garage in Keavy looking for gasoline after their truck broke down, WKYT reported.

Deputies said the three people took a 5-gallon gasoline jug and poured it into the truck, WYMT reported.

I guess when they put it in their vehicle they could not get their vehicle going, so they entered a gated area and pushed their vehicle off the roadway and onto this person’s property and left it," Deputy Gilbert Acciardo told the television station. "They committed a crime, and all they had to do was knock on his door and ask for some gas, and I'm sure he would have given him some."

The victims of the theft said they had been using peroxide to clear algae out of a pond, WYMT reported.
