Police received the initial report at midnight Sunday, according to WPVI-TV.
A man told police that sewing-type needles were found inside five wrapped Twix candy bars given to four children from different households as they were trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Police told the station that the man reporting the incident said he saw a Facebook post from an unknown source describing a Snickers candy with needles in it.
This post lead him to check his children's candy, and he discovered the sewing-type needles in the Twix snack size candy, he said.
Police say it is still unclear whether the source of the tampered candy was the person giving it out, a store or another distribution channel.
