A worker with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet died Saturday when the snow plow he was driving slid off the road.
NewsChannel 5 reported that the driver was operating a snow truck and called his supervisor for help after the accident around 7:30 a.m.
The driver, identified as Christopher Adams, was found dead by the time his supervisor arrived.
Officials say the 44-year-old may have died from a medical issue, but they are awaiting test results. They said the death was not suspicious and unrelated to the crash.
Adams worked with the department for 16 years.
"Our crews are very tight knit," KYTC district chief engineer Kevin McClearn said. "Working long hours in all kinds of weather, you get to know the character of people around you. Losing a friend and coworker is always tough, but our crew is continuing work today to carry on efforts to make travel safer for the rest of us."
