popular French fitness blogger and Instagram model was killed after an exploding whipped cream dispenser hit her chest Saturday, according to French media reports.

Rebecca Burger, 33, who ran the popular lifestyle blog Rebecca Likes, died of cardiac arrest in her home, according to authorities.

The French paper 20 Minutes reported that Burger was unconscious when she arrived at the hospital and died Sunday.

Burger’s family posed about the tragic accident on Facebook and Instagram Wednesday, warning the public about the potential risks of faulty dispensers, one of which had “exploded and struck Rebecca’s chest, causing her death.”

An Instagram post (with a caption written in French) showed an example of the cartridge/siphon that killed her.

The post noted the cartridge was sealed and warned Burger’s nearly 170,000 Instagram followers to not use this type of dispenser, tens of thousands of which are still in circulation, in their homes.

According to BBC News, a whipped cream dispenser works by injecting gas (nitrous oxide) into a metal container and keeps the entire dispenser under high pressure.

When pierced by a pin, the containers release the gas and pressurize the cream container, the Washington Post reported.

This isn't the first time whipped cream dispensers have been cause for concern. In 2014, consumer magazine 60 Millions reported two people were seriously injured by similar dispensers in France.

The French economy ministry issued a similar warning in a 2014 news release, the Post reported.

“Since 2010, several models of kitchen syphons, also called cream syphons, have turned out to be dangerous and led to home accidents,” the news release read.

According to Ard'Time, which produced the whip cream dispenser reportedly used by Burger, the device has been recalled after reports that the plastic head of the dispenser may explode and fly off.
