  • According to a police report, the victim met the suspect on Tinder, and the two agreed to meet at a McDonald’s restaurant. They then relocated to the apartment of a friend, the report said.

At some point, the suspect started stabbing the victim, according to police. The victim said he was stabbed four times in the incident, which happened earlier this month. Police said he was treated and transported by ambulance.

“It was pretty scary,” said neighbor Candi Cole. “You can’t really assume you are safe if you put anything online.”

Witnesses told police that the victim was bleeding when he approached them. They said the victim told them that the suspect had locked him in a bathroom, stabbed him, and stolen his money and his vehicle. At last check, police were still looking for the suspect. Police collected a steak knife as potential evidence, they said.

Tinder is a dating app on which users can identify profiles they like, and the app notifies users of a “match.”

Tinder advises its users to get to know the other person before meeting them offline, always meet in public, and tell a friend or inform a family member of your plans.
