Big voice keeps on churning. Proud Tina keeps on burning.
Tina Turner turned 80 Tuesday, and the legendary singer posted a video on Twitter with a birthday message.
"Yes, I'm 80. What did I think? How did I think I would be at 80? Not like this," Turner said in her video. "Well, how is this? I look great. I feel good.
"I'm happy to be an 80-year-old woman."
That's no exaggeration. In her 2018 memoir, Turner spoke about her health issues after suffering a stroke, fighting intestinal cancer and having a kidney transplant, CNN reported.
Turner, whose career with then-husband Ike Turner began in the 1960s and included hits like "Proud Mary" and "Nutbush City Limits," revived her career during the 1980s as a solo artist with her hits, "Private Dancer" and "What's Love Got to Do With It?"
As a solo artist, Tina Turner became "a whole new kind of pop star, defining middle-aged cool," Rolling Stone reported.
Her life story is now a Broadway musical, "Tina: The Tina Turner Story."
Turner made a public appearance last month to celebrate the opening of the show and said, "This musical is my life but it's like poison that turned to medicine," CNN reported. "I can never be as happy as I am now."
