A hungry New Mexico woman told a restaurant server Monday her meal was "on God," before leaving without paying.
Authorities said Delila Hernandez, 30, rode her bicycle to a Sonic restaurant in Las Cruces and ordered food, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported. When the server asked for payment, Hernandez allegedly said "This one's on God," the newspaper reported.
According to court documents, the server said, "That's not how this works" and tried to keep the food away from her. However, Hernandez allegedly threatened the server, who gave her the food, the Sun-News reported. The server then returned inside and called the police.
Las Cruces police later found Hernandez eating her meal in a park, the newspaper reported.
According to court documents, Hernandez told police she knew what she did was wrong, but ate the meal because she was "starving."
Hernandez was arrested and charged with felony robbery, the Sun-News reported.
That charge could be reduced, according to Roxanne Garcia-McElmell, public information officer for the Third District District Attorney's Office. Garcia-McElmell told the newspaper Hernandez most likely will be charged with a petty misdemeanor of under $250.
