What to know now:

1. Hillary's speech: Hillary Clinton accepted the nomination for president from the Democratic Party Thursday night, asking supporters and those on the other side to come together for the good of the country. "I know that at a time when so much seems to be pulling us apart, it can be hard to imagine how we'll ever pull together again," Clinton said. She and running  mate Tim Kaine will hit the campaign trail Friday.

2. Another cyber attack on Dems: Reuters is reporting that the FBI is investigating a cyber attack against the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) . The attack on the DCCC, which  raises funds for Democratic candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives, could have been an attempt to gather information on donors, the story said. A batch of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee were released days before the Democratic National Convention, and appeared to  show the DNC favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders as the two campaigned for the party's presidential nomination.

3. Chandra Levy case: Murder charges  against a  man believed to have killed Washington intern Chandra Levy in 2001 have been dismissed. The charges against Ingmar Guandique were dropped after prosecutors said they could not prove that Guandique killed the young intern whose body was found in a remote area of a D.C. park. "Today, in the interests of justice and based on recent unforeseen developments that were investigated over the past week, the office moved to dismiss the case charging Ingmar Guandique with the May 2001 murder of Chandra Levy," Bill Miller, public information officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, said. Levy's murder sparked national interest when it was revealed she had had an affair with then U.S. Rep. Gary Condit.

4. Police shooting: One police officer was killed and another wounded Thursday night in San Diego. So far no word on the circumstances of the shootings that happened around 11 p.m. local time. The second officer is in surgery, according to police officials. According to tweets from the San Diego Police, a suspect is in custody.

5. Bill Cosby suit: Bill Cosby has dropped a lawsuit against his accuser in a criminal sexual assault case. Cosby had sued Andrea Constand for breach of contract to try to recover money he paid her to end the suit she brought against him in 2005. The money was paid as a settlement in a civil suit over allegations of sexual abuse.

And one more

You may want to run those errands early this morning, as the end of the world is expected sometime today. At least that's what End Time Prophecies is telling folks. Something called a polar flip is being cited by the group as the trigger for the end. The group also claims that the second coming of Jesus Christ will happen Friday. End Time Prophecies has a history of predicting, well, the end of times, which, in itself, speaks to the likely accuracy of today's prediction. (Hint: Don't cancel your Saturday plans).

In case you missed it

If that doesn’t put a smile on your face, what will?
