Over the span of the United States’ history, it has suffered many attacks classified as “mass shootings,” with the frequency increasing over the last decade.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, these are the worst mass shootings since 2012.

• Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 1, 2017 – 58 people killed

• Orlando, Fla., June 12, 2016 – 49 people killed

• Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dec. 14, 2012 – 27 people killed

• Sutherland Springs, Texas, Nov. 5, 2017 – 26 people killed

• El Paso, Texas, Aug. 3, 2019 – 23 killed

• Uvalde, Texas, May 24, 2022 – 21 killed

• Parkland, Fla., Feb. 14, 2018 – 17

• San Bernardino, Ca., Dec. 2, 2015 – 14 people killed

• Washington Navy Yard, D.C., Sept. 16, 2013 – 12 killed

• Virginia Beach, May 31, 2019 – 12 killed

• Thousand Oaks, Ca., Nov 7, 2018 – 12 killed
