Army Master Sgt. Joshua Wheeler was killed last month while serving in Iraq. A Delta Force soldier, Wheeler was participating in a special forces raid to free 70 ISIS hostages, and was wounded. He later died of his injuries after receiving medical care. This week, he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. In keeping with the Delta Force motto of being "quiet professionals", the funeral was kept off of the daily funeral schedule. He was buried on Wednesday in a quiet ceremony that was closed to the public.
Senator Jim Inhofe, who memorialized Wheeler this week on the Senate floor with Senator James Lankford, released the funeral information on his Facebook page. Army officials did not release the time of the funeral service when asked by media outlets, and only disclosed that Wheeler was a member of the Delta Force after his death, as soldiers who are members of the Delta Force are not identified as such.
