A Texas man injured a 15-year-old girl Saturday when he discharged a real firearm during a water gun fight at a family barbecue, authorities said.
"We come around here to get home and there's two people playing, like they're having a water gun fight," neighbor Rasheed Seals told KPRC.
Somehow a real gun became part of the game, according to investigators.
The girl's injuries were not life-threatening, according to Lt. Charles Hoover, of the Harris County Constable's Office.
The man has been arrested and charged with deadly conduct. Hoover said the names of the man charged and the victim have not been released. KPRC reported the man's name as Jason Speights.
"The man went over there to his car to get his dry clothes and he must have had the gun so he started playing with it and tried to do this and I thought he probably had it on safety and he accidentally shot the girl in her collarbone area," neighbor Micah Stewart told KPRC.
A stray bullet tore into a car parked about five houses away.
