The hunt is on for a suspect who stole a patrol vehicle out of the Auburn Police Department's city lot Sunday.

The SUV had a police issued rifle locked in a bracket inside the cab, according to authorities. However, police warned the lock was not necessarily unbreakable.

Auburn police say the suspect climbed a secured fence and then drove through the locked parking lot gate before driving away with the vehicle.

The car is a 2012 Chevy Tahoe with a light bar and Washington tax exempt license plate No. 52815D.

It was last seen moving erratically on northbound Interstate 5 near Interstate 90 Sunday night.

Authorities did not immediately release any information about possible suspects in the case.
