A suspicious item led to the evacuation late Friday of a cargo facility at Los Angeles International Airport, police said.

Authorities evacuated the Mercury Air Cargo facility just after 9 p.m. local time after "questionable materials" were found on a manifest, Los Angeles Airport police said. A bomb squad was called to investigate.

The evacuation did not affect flights and the area was cleared of any threat by 11:15 p.m. Authorities did not elaborate on the suspicious cargo.

The suspect cargo was discovered outside the British Airways cargo area, ABC News reported.

Photos from the scene showed multiple police cars and fire trucks blocking off the road to the cargo facility.
