One person has been arrested in connection with human remains found in Cambridge Saturday.

Police spent most of the day at an active crime scene at Loughery Way near Binney and 6th Streets after finding a duffel bag containing human remains on a public pathway early Saturday morning.

After tracking down surveillance video from the area, police then focused their investigation on an apartment building at 157 6th St. next to Cambridge Police headquarters. At one point they went in armed with a battering ram, a pry bar, bean bag stun gun and some dogs. According to the district attorney, additional human remains were found in a common area inside the building.

One suspect was arrested on two charges: accessory after the crime of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and improper disposal of human remains. Officials have not yet released the person's name, but said that person will be arraigned Monday.

Police said they do not believe that residents are in danger, but were going door to door in the apartment building asking anyone if they saw anything.

Many residents remain on edge.

"First, they said I couldn't leave, they wanted to know my name, and what apartment I was living in," one woman who lives in the building said.
