June 10, 2015

High school senior Mike Brannigan is the fastest two-mile high school runner in the country, and he has a severe form of autism.

“Running helps me get through life and helps me achieve my goals,” Mike said.

The track is where Mike says he feels most at home. The senior from Northport, New York says he ran his best two-mile race in just 8 minutes, 42 seconds.  He was recently named Sports Illustrated High School Athlete of the Month.

Mike says he wants to run in college and hopes to complete in the Paralympics in Brazil in 2016.
