A Pennsylvania state trooper is facing misdemeanor charges after he allegedly exposed himself to a woman.
Eric Zona, 47, is charged with indecent exposure and open lewdness after allegedly exposing himself to a woman who worked at the Greensburg State Police Barracks.
According to the criminal complaint, Zona, a 19-year state police veteran, met up with the victim Oct. 16 when she wanted to buy state police merchandise from the store in the annex of the Greensburg barracks.
She told investigators that when she was ready to pay, Zona offered her a “discount” if she looked at “this.” She said that’s when he exposed himself.
“She explained she had her back to the defendant, and when she turned around, the defendant was exposing (himself),” the complaint read.
Zona exposed himself to the victim two more times before she made it out of the building, the complaint said. Police said Zona told the woman he would give her half off her purchase if she exposed herself to him.
In court paperwork obtained by Channel 11, Zona allegedly sent the victim two text messages minutes after she left. One said, “Shhhh,” and the other was about a turtleneck for sale.
The internal affairs sergeant said a search warrant recovered a total of five deleted text message exchanged the night of Oct. 16.
Zona has been suspended without pay.
