Spotify is cracking down on members with premium family plans, asking users to confirm their address to ensure their account stays active.
The move is an attempt to reduce the amount of friends sharing family accounts rather than signing up for individual memberships.
A $14.99 family account allows up to six users to access the streaming music service, however, Spotify stipulates that each account holder must live at the same address.
While users of the streaming music service continue to grow, revenue from each subscriber is shrinking because of family plans, Billboard reported last month.
"Spotify is currently testing improvements to the user experience of Premium for Family with small user groups in select markets," company officials told Quartz. "We are always testing new products and experiences at Spotify, but have no further news to share regarding this particular feature test at this time."
