Children with special needs go on shopping spree thanks to anonymous donor
By Jared Leone, Cox Media Group National Content Desk
Dec 21, 2017More than 100 children with special needs went on a toy shopping spree after an anonymous donor gave $25,000 to a charity group.
Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, a non-profit that supports people with special needs, gave each of the recipients $200 and told them to roam the aisles Wednesday at the Toys 'R Us.
"They get to pick what they want," Anu Arnold, of FREE, told WCBS. "They get to make the choices and then get to open (their presents) on Christmas morning that they might not have had before."
This is the second year the anonymous donor has made the contribution.
"It's amazing," James Trombino, who was there with his daughter, told WABC. "Just to see the expression on their faces. Pick whatever you want."
