A lawsuit was filed Thursday alleging that Snapchat's Discover service exposes minors to sexually explicit content.

Mark Geragos filed the suit accusing Snapchat of violating the Communications Decency Act, a law intended to regulate indecency and obscenity on the web.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Snapchat's terms of service warns users not to send explicit messages, but does not warn that they may encounter offensive content on the platform's Discover feature.

“A lot of the sites have taken the affirmative approach of dealing with this,” Geragos told the Los Angeles Times.

According to Law.com, Noah Edwardsen, a spokesman for Snapchat, said, "We haven't been served with a complaint in this lawsuit, but we are sorry if people were offended. Our Discover partners have editorial independence, which is something that we support."

According to Snapchat's "Terms of Service," by using the service the user agrees to "waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration."
