Yes, there's an International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

And the best way to celebrate it is to dress up like a marauder and get free food.

For all who "speak ye pirate," Krispy Kreme is offering a free original glazed doughnut. Those who dress like a pirate will receive a dozen free glazed doughnuts.

According to the doughnut chain, customers must include at least three of the following elements:

  • Eye patch
  • Pirate hat
  • Pirate flag
  • Bandana
  • Peg leg
  • Parrot on shoulder
  • Pirate shirt or loose white shirt
  • Knickers
  • Leather belt
  • Silver and gold necklaces and earrings
  • Pirate hook
  • Pointy black boots or ragged brown sandals

SnapChat users can also use a custom Krispy Kreme Snapchat pirate filter to "dress up," according to the event page. Customers who present a photo with the pirate filter can also qualify for a dozen original glazed doughnuts.

In addition to the chance to score freebies, Krispy Kreme is offering the Pirate Doughnut, a filled doughnut decorated with a pirate face. Another doughnut, the Skull and Crossbones Doughnut, is topped with chocolate icing and finished with white icing and a skull candy piece.

The deal is valid at all chain locations in the U.S. and Canada only on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, Sept. 19.

Long John Silver's is offering a similar deal. Customers who talk like a pirate will receive a free fish tender or a piece of chicken, and those who dress like a pirate will receive a free two-piece fish or chicken basket.
