The office said Igor’s handler took him outside around 9:45 p.m. Thursday to allow him to relieve himself. Igor, as usual, was not on a leash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

While outside, fireworks exploded near the house, causing Igor to run off.

Igor, who is trained as an explosives detection K-9, was last seen in the 900 block of Oregon Street, in Kannapolis.

The Sheriff’s Office said Igor is not trained to bite. He was last seen wearing a silver chain collar and has an implanted microchip ID.

Anyone with information about Igor's location is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 704-920-3000.
