A small airplane piloted by Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Inhofe crashed at a small airport near Grand Lake Sunday, but he was reportedly unharmed.
The crash occurred at the landing strip in Ketchum.
Early reports indicate Inhofe, 81, swerved to avoid hitting a deer with the airplane, which flipped.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Donelle Harder, a spokeswoman for the Republican senator, said in a statement he wasn't planning to land at Ketchum at all.
"Inhofe was out flying with another local pilot in two separate planes," she told KRMG by text message. "Due to strong weather that came up this evening, Inhofe was forced to land his plane at Ketchum."
She added: "Inhofe walked away and is now at home with family celebrating the Fourth."
