An Ohio teen accused of attacking her mother with a knife may have been influenced by horror character Slender Man, a Cincinnati TV station is reporting.
According to WLWT, the Hamilton County mother, who did not wish to be identified, said her 13-year-old daughter attacked her with a knife in the family's kitchen last week. The mother was treated for minor cuts on her face, neck and back.
The girl was wearing a white mask and appeared to be playing a role during the attack, her mother said.
"It didn't feel like her at all," the mother said.
The mother said she found references to Slender Man in her daughter's writings. "She even created a world for Slender Man in the game 'Minecraft,'" the mother told the station.
The teen, who faces charges as a juvenile, has a history of mental-health issues, her mother said.
Two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls made headlines last week when they allegedly stabbed a friend to please Slender Man. According to CNN and Newsy, the fictional character is a faceless man who haunts children, wears a suit and sometimes has tentacles.
