A careening car nearly hit a reporter during a live shot Tuesday morning in California.
Alex Savidge, a reporter for KTVU, was reporting on a train derailment in Alameda County. A crash was heard in the background then a white car jumped a curb, knocked over the camera and hit a light pole.
"My heart's racing like crazy," Savidge tweeted moments after the incident. "Almost got hit by a car live on air but I'm OK."
Fremont police believe that the female driver might have hit the gas instead of the brakes, according to KTVU. The woman's driver license was taken away. Officials are investigating the crash.
Savidge continued working.
In his next live shot he is seen visibly shaken and emotional. He thanked the cameraman for yelling at him to get out of the way and they hugged each other.
"I am grateful to be OK, that is all I can say," Savidge said. "I don't know if my wife… she's not watching. I haven't been able to call her. I just want to tell my wife I'm OK.
