Former Boston Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner has died.
Family members said Buckner died Monday morning and had been suffering from dementia. He was 69 years old.
Buckner played parts of five seasons with the Red Sox. He drove in more than 100 runs in both 1985 and 1986, but was also the face of the 1986 World Series collapse against the New York Mets. His error in the 10th inning of Game 6 allowed the Mets to come back and win the series, prolonging the franchise's long World Series drought.
