Sarah Nathan of Hamilton, New Zealand, is frustrated with her kitty, Brigit, who won't stop bringing home strange men's underwear and socks.
Brigit, a Tonkinese cat, has been known to be a thief in the past, but the obsession with men’s undergarments is new.
"[In the past,] she was much less discerning. Now she's decided menswear is the thing, and it's a very specific kind of underpants that she likes," Nathan told 60abc.com.
Brigit’s poor owner is at a loss as to what to do and has grown so desperate that she has put notes in all her neighbor’s mailboxes asking them to check if they're missing any underwear.
So far, the cat burglar has brought home about a dozen underpants and more than 50 socks.
Nathan said Tonkinese are known to be “quite obsessive.”
But in spite of Brigit’s owner’s best attempts, no one has come to reclaim any of the kitty’s stolen treasures.
Nathan’s family is planning to make a trip to the country soon, where they are hoping Brigit will forget about her underpants obsession.
"Hopefully there's something there she can find to catch," Nathan said, "but if not we may have to stash some undies around the farm to keep her stimulated."
