For a very short amount of time, flower enthusiasts can see a very rare bloom at botanical gardens in New York, Washington, D.C. and Indiana.

The "corpse" flower is currently in bloom with a flowering cycle that only lasts 24-36 hours.

The rare plant got its nickname because of the highly pungent odor it releases at the peak of its bloom. The plant is native to Sumatra and is one of the largest flowers on Earth, reaching 6 feet tall.

According to the New York botanical garden, it will likely be several more years before the flower blooms again.

The botanical garden is livestreaming the flower on a corpse flower cam.

The plant is on display at the United States Botanic Garden Conservatory in Washington, D.C.

Another flower is blooming at Indiana University's Jordan Hall. The plant was given to the school in 2007 and this is the first time it has bloomed.

The Indiana University flower can also be seen on livestream.
