Tulsa police are looking for a couple of thieves they say set-up a kind-hearted person.
Detectives told FOX23 one of the suspects was a pregnant woman holding a Bible pretending to have car trouble.
Police said the elderly victim felt sorry for the pregnant woman, so she picked her up. Minutes later, the suspected thief pulled a loaded gun out of the hollow paged Bible.
“This is clearly a scam. I wouldn’t say it’s unheard of, but boy it’s new to me,” Sgt. Brandon Watkins said.
Watkins told us the thief forced the victim to drive her more than five miles to the area near Apache Street and Lewis Avenue where a car was waiting.
Watkins said a man got out of the car, and the duo took the elderly lady’s money.
The two suspected thieves then sped off.
“This is basically a person who was targeted solely for being a good person,” Watkins added.
Police said if you want to help someone stranded on the side of the road, it’s best to call them to check on the person even if he or she looks trustworthy.
