A group of pre-med students at Duke University were at the right place at the right time when a professor needed help in the school's library.

Kristen Bonowitz was studying with three other students when someone came running in asking if anyone knew CPR, WRAL reported.

Bonowitz is a volunteer for the university's EMS and was on call with others on Labor Day.

That's when they jumped into action. One person performed CPR as Patil used the defibrillator. It was her first time using it on a patient.

Another did chest compressions as the group worked as a team until the Durham EMS arrived and took over.

Grody is in the intensive care unit and is expected to make a full recovery. He emailed the students thanking them for saving his life, WRAL reported.
