A South Carolina woman called deputies Sunday to report a package she believed was stolen off the porch of her Spartanburg home. The box contained nine tarantulas, valued at approximately $1,000, WYFF reported.

The woman, who was not identified, told deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office she was supposed to receive her package at 10:30 a.m. Friday, the television station reported. She received a notification at 9:16 that the package had been delivered, but when she went to her porch the package was missing, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.

The woman's husband told WSPA they are following up with FedEx since the package required a signature to be delivered.

The woman's neighbor, Sabrina Rice, said she was shocked to learn the box of tarantulas had been taken.

"There's always somebody out there talkin' to her, but I would never think someone would steal something off somebody's porch," Rice told WSPA. "It's a box full of spiders.

“They probably were thinking they’re getting something electronic. Something they could sell or something they could just keep for themselves. ... So what are you gonna do with a box full of spiders? What you gonna do with spiders?”

The Sheriff's Office said there were no surveillance cameras on the property and deputies do not have any suspects, WYFF reported.
