The vehicle was taken around 9:15 p.m., the San-Jose Mercury News reported. The damaged vehicle was later recovered in the Jingletown neighborhood, police said.

It is the second time this year an Oakland police vehicle was taken from an on-duty officer.

A woman was arrested in July after stealing a police vehicle and driving it to San Francisco and back.
