A professor at Delta State University was shot to death Monday and police now are searching for a co-worker whom they say is a person of interest.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol, has identified Dr. Shannon Lamb as a person of interest, but not a suspect in the shooting death of Ethan Schmidt, WLOX reported.
Schmidt was shot and killed Monday in his office. He was an assistant professor of American history.
Lamb is a geography teacher at the university. He started teaching there in 2009 and received his doctorate in 2014, WLOX reported.
Lamb is a suspect in the murder of a woman Monday morning in Gautier, Mississippi, WLOX and The Sun Herald reported. The woman has not been identified and no information about the relationship between Lamb, Schmidt and the woman has been released.
Police detective Matt Hoggatt said Lamb called police Monday and reported that there had been a shooting at a home on a Gautier street, The Sun Herald reported.
