The Polkton Police Department in North Carolina, responded to the Brown Creek Correctional Institution Monday after an officer was unable to pass the electronic security devices before entering into the institution, according to police.

According to officers, the assistant superintendent advised officers of the situation.

Correctional Officer Travis Terez Hubbard resisted officers, ran out of the administrative building, jumped into his personal vehicle and attempted to leave, police said.

Hubbard was a correctional officer at the institution.

Officers stopped Hubbard from leaving the scene and searched him and his vehicle.

They located approximately 1.5 ounces of marijuana inside his vehicle, packaged to deliver to an inmate, police said.

Correctional officers searched the area that Hubbard ran from and discovered another package where Hubbard’s personal vehicle was parked.

Inside the package was another one ounce of marijuana and 18 suboxone strips.

Hubbard was arrested and charged with two counts of attempt to provide inmates with controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.

Hubbard was placed into the Anson County Jail under an $80,000 secure bond.
