Peachtree City police stopped the delivery of an illegal, marijuana-filled package that was supposed to arrive in time for Christmas after receiving a tip from a local business.
Cops said they got a call on December 14 from an unidentified store about a suspicious box that came through the business during its busiest time of the year.
"That would be the time you'd think to get a package through," said Lt. Mark Brown, of the Peachtree City Police Department. "In this case, they didn't get it through, with the volume of packages."
The box had 10 pounds of marijuana inside. Police allowed the recipients to pick it up and drive off.
Unbeknownst to the suspects, identified as Sanquelia Bell and Deaudre Jackson, a swarn of officers was ready and waiting for them. Officers arrested them without a fight and charged both with trafficking marijuana.
"There was nowhere for them to go," Brown said. "All our assets were in place. The roads were blocked off, so citizens couldn't get in there. [There was] no crossfire situation. Our canines and stop sticks were ready to avoid a vehicle pursuit."
Police continued to investigate where the package was shipped from.
