A Seattle area teacher thought to be the center of a violent attack admitted to police that he staged the crime scene on campus.

In May, another teacher found Cal Pygott, a shop teacher, bleeding with a zip tie placed around his neck. A note nearby read, "This man is not god."

Bothell, Washington, police locked down the school and opened an investigation, that kept turning up inconsistencies with Pygott's statement.

Pygott later admitted he made up the story and intentionally injured himself.

In the days following the initial report of the attack, police looked through evidence and focused on hours of surveillance footage from security cameras on campus.

Also after the incident was reported, Pygott said in an interview, “This is not going to turn me into a victim."

During a news conference Thursday, the school district announced Pygott is on administrative leave.
