Police: ‘Extremely drunk’ mother arrested after causing scene at school

A woman in Florida made a routine activity anything but after police say she showed up intoxicated to pick up her child from school, according to the Huffington Post.
Renata Congleton, 27, drove to Trinity Elementary to pick up her child after school, but school officials refused to release the child to her custody because she appeared “extremely drunk,” according to the police report.
School officials called law enforcement, but Congleton fled before they arrived, damaging two cars.
Deputies tracked Congleton to her home, where she admitted she had been in a car accident. Congleton resisted arrest, kicking and scratching at officers.
Police say Congleton’s blood-alcohol level registered .413, which is over five times the legal limit.
The mother faces multiple charges, including child neglect, resisting arrest and battery on an officer. Her bond was set at $15,000.
