Police: Device explodes in trash can along charity race route in New Jersey

What was believed to be a pipe bomb exploded in a garbage can along a charity race route on the Jersey Shore Saturday morning, police said.

The device exploded around 9:30 a.m. No one was injured, according to WNBC.

Police have evacuated the area as they search for other devices, according to WCAU.

The Marine Semper Fi 5k race was set to run Saturday morning in the area. The race has been canceled.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating the explosion, according to WNBC.
