Police: 4 infants hospitalized, no charges after car crashes into South Carolina preschool
Four infants were taken to a hospital after a car crashed into a Columbia, South Carolina, preschool, according to police.
A woman drove a Lexus IS25 sedan through the wall of one of the child care rooms at Cadence Academy Preschool on Friday afternoon, Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons told The State of Columbia. Four infants were subsequently taken to a hospital. Medical staff told police that the children were not seriously injured, police tweeted.
The driver told officers she accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brake, Timmons said. No charges will be filed.
The other children in the building weren't injured, police said in a tweet. Day care workers moved the children to another part of the building, and parents were picking their children up early.
