Flooding in Kerry, Ireland, over the weekend swept one donkey into the water, but fortunately his fate was left in the hands of local volunteers who were able to rescue him.

The donkey, who was named Mike after one of the rescuers, was distressed initially but finally calmed down after being back on land.

He even flashed a genuine, huge smiled in a series of photos that were taken after the rescue, which was carried out by Animal Heaven Animal Rescue.

The group posted an update not long after the rescue saying the animal was feeling much better.
